Ronald Van Der Kemp calls itself the world’s first sustainable couture label. Inherent to couture is the idea of custom-made fashion, designed, made and sold to a specific client to meet specific needs. Miklošová and RVDK collaborated during the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Couture Weeks in Paris. RVDK models wore golden pieces of jewellery made by Miklošová; accompanying RVDK’s recycled pieces were a selection of Miklošová’s beautifully imperfect pieces. This collaboration highlighted the beauty in imperfection, showing that previously used materials can find a new way to be used and find a new way to be graceful.
RVDK seeks to revolutionise the century-old Parisian couture culture by introducing limited-edition pieces that are season-less and timeless. Moving away from the traditional season-based limitations of high fashion frees RVDK’s pieces to align more closely to the expression of women’s personality – underlining female strength and character. The collaboration with Miklošová facilitated this expression, with the metallic nature of the jewellery echoing feminine strength and beauty.
Both RVDK and Miklošová have set about imbuing the world of fashion with ethical reinvention and sustainability.
